The tech industry continues to see job cuts, and Google is the latest company to reduce its workforce. Reports say that Google has quietly laid off some employees in its Google Cloud division over the past two weeks.
According to Layoffs.fyi, a website that tracks layoffs, 164 companies have cut a total of 116,379 jobs so far this year.
The recent layoffs at Google Cloud affected employees in the Threat Intelligence Group and Mandiant, the cybersecurity company Google acquired in 2022. These job cuts are part of a wider trend in the tech industry, where companies are shifting resources toward artificial intelligence (AI) projects.
Google has not revealed how many employees were affected or exactly when the layoffs took place. However, the company stated that the changes are aimed at investing more in growth areas such as AI.
